From 16 to 19 July I will walk the Nijmegen Four Day Marches to raise money for 'Stichting Down Syndroom’.
This consists of walking 30 km each day for four days in a row. That is 120 km/ 80 miles in total!
Stichting Down Syndroom, originally set up by a group of Dutch parents of children with Down syndrome in 1988, is an organisation which raises awareness of the syndrome and everything that comes with it.
The organisation aims for integration of people with Down Syndrome in society, providing them with the best possible opportunities in life. Their moto is: Intervention, Information and Inclusion.
The reason why I chose to raise funding for 'Stichting Down Syndrome' is because my Cousin Mika, now 8, was born with Down syndrome. I wanted to do something to support him. His parents said this charity would be a great one to raise funds for, as it has been a great support for them.
