A Cup of Warmth: Help the Homeless People of Amsterdam

A Cup of Warmth: Help the Homeless People of Amsterdam logo 1

Remember the good old times before the pandemic when you could just walk into your favourite café with your friends, order a warm cup of cappuccino, sit down inside and enjoy it? Unfortunately, this is not possible anymore, but you can still get a coffee to go to warm you up a bit, especially during these cold days.

At the moment many people in Amsterdam are not only left without warm lattes and cozy cafés, but without basic necessities, like food and shelter.

“A Cup of Warmth” is a campaign set up by the volunteers of the project “Koffiets”, coordinated by the Amsterdamse Diaconie. (You can see the Koffiets in action here: https://business.facebook.com/watch/?v=165199348120002)

Our goal is to reach out to people on the streets who are in need of a warm cup of coffee, a conversation, a listening ear or good laugh, and warm them up or brighten their day.

How do we do that? With the help of many lovely volunteers and our mighty bakfiets, the Koffiets! We bike around Amsterdam almost everyday and give out coffee, tea, sandwiches and warm soup to Amsterdammers who need it. We serve around 20-30 people a day, on average.

During the Corona crisis more and more people require our help, which is why this project is more important than ever before!

We would like to ask for your help, to support our work by donating a few euros, so we can keep more people warm with our coffee.

This is your chance to show some love to your fellow Amsterdammers and to give back to the city and its people!

We would like to collect 1000 euros from which we would buy:

-100 thermo coffee mugs

-coffeepowder

-bread and cheese for sandwiches

-instant soup

-coffee jugs

-tea filters, sugar, creamer

- hygiene articles: hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, etc.
