Imagine having to use a banana leaf in place of a pad in grade school.Many of the girls in rural communities in Uganda face serious health risks due to having to rely on unhygienic products such as banana leaves, newspapers, old rags, or mud in the place of a sanitary pad just so that they are able to participate in their normal daily routines during their menstruation. Many have been forced to drop out of school because this is simply unbearable and unsustainable.
