Empowering youth through sport facilities

Somalia has been in conflict since the collapse of Siad bare government in 1990.  The last years country is making progress toward peace and stability and needs to be supported. HIRDA acknowledge the importance of sport and youth  since the organization has been working  country 20 y

his project targets youth integration through sports events and awareness campaigns to ensure the  youth participate peace and stability of the country  and reinforce stability and development. Youth are an integral composition for the population. They participate on the socio-economic development. But on the other hand they participate the conflicts and confrontation occurs in the city. With the absence of strong central government, youth became victims for long lasted conflicts for being used as militias, while many have fled a way to oversee countries and met with imprisonments.  youth are persuaded and encouraged to take parts clan conflicts and confrontations by political affiliated individuals to gain their interests. Clan based conflicts directly, impacts on youngsters by meeting with death, severe wounds, illiteracy, lose of morality, and becoming drug adaptors.

In addition to that, there are a large number of youth who have died in the high seas while they wanted to migrate to foreign countries to gain some better living standards, education, jobs, and to assist their families whom they left behind.

With this project HIRDA aims to construct sport complex in two cities of southern Somalia Badaio and Bardere.  The objective of the project is to encourage youth to participate the peace and stability of southern Somalia specially and the country in general.

 The sport complex will be used for sport tournaments (Futsal tournament, basket ball, handball and gym) school children specially girls will be also stimulated to be part of the sport activities of  the sport complex. HIRDA has been working with the community for 20 years and know how to engaged the community of the project initiation phase.  Therefore community and local government will cooperate project and will provide the assistance needed to realize the project  

 The target of the project is 150 young people in  Biadoa and Abudwak of age 12- 25. Project duration is will be 2 year. The sport complex will be in use year 2022 and HIRDA is expecting that the youth in those cities will get place play and make connection for peace. The complex will contribute peace and stability of these two cities.
