On 15th October I am running the Amsterdam Half Marathon for KiKa (https://kika.nl/) and Vereniging Kinderkanker Nederland (https://www.kinderkankernederland.nl) two incredible charities that do amazing work in supporting and investing in scientific research of Child cancers.
Childhood cancer statistics highlight the urgency of my mission:
•Approximately 1 in 285 children worldwide is diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20.
•Childhood cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death in children.
Almost all of us have been affected in some way with cancer related deaths in friends and family. I know I have, having lost my father at 13, to more recently my brother-in-law and mother-in-law overcoming cancer. This is why I run, for them and every family struggling with this shit disease.
By helping support me in this goal you are joining the fight to overcome cancer and support families going through the toughest of times. As cliche as this sounds, every little helps and together we are striving to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
